With the Steelers dominating the line of scrimmage throughout the first half, the second quarter started with the Steelers in Tennessee territory.
The Steelers’ offensive domination continued into the second quarter when Ben Roethlisberger continued his third down magic. Conversions to JuJu Smith-Schuster and James Conner set up the Steelers with a first and goal situation. On third down it was Benny Snell Jr. walking into the end zone for the score.

The Chris Boswell point after was good, making the score 14-0 with 12:16 left in the first half.
Ryan Tannehill and company needed an answer, and they were able to do just that as the offense put together their first scoring drive of the game which was capped off by a Ryan Tannehill touchdown pass to Corey Davis. The extra point made the score 14-7 with 5:26 left in the second quarter.
Pittsburgh’s offense continued to dominate the Tennessee defense by moving the football with big James Conner runs into scoring territory. However, for the first time in the game, a third down pass intended for JuJu Smith-Schuster fell incomplete and forced a field goal attempt. Boswell was good from 31 yards making the score 17-7 with 2:54 left in the first half.
After a muffed kickoff, the Titans started their next possession from their own 10 yard line, but they were unable to put together a first down before punting the ball away. On the return, Ray-Ray McCloud dashed through a sea of Titans defenders to set the Steelers offense up inside the red-zone with 1:50 left on the clock and one timeout remaining.
It took just two plays for the Steelers to extend their lead. A Roethlisberger to Diontae Johnson touchdown extended their lead.
