3 games to watch in Week 12 which give perspective to the 2020 Steelers

There are several NFL games this week which will help get a better understanding of teams the Steelers will or have faced in 2020

The Pittsburgh Steelers are forced to wait three more days before they take on the Baltimore Ravens. Rather than continue to complain about it, maybe it’s time to look at some other games going on around the NFL. Of course, the Steelers’ game is the only one that matters this week, but there are some other games which could tell Steelers fans more about this 2020 team.

At the suggestion of one of our faithful BTSC community members, I’m going to include a brief rundown of the previous week’s three games in question to see how they helped shape the narrative of the Steelers 2020 season.

Philadelphia Eagles (17) at Cleveland Browns (22)

It may have just been me, but this felt like a game nobody really wanted to win. The only score in the first half with a defensive touchdown on a terrible decision by Carson Wentz. Although the Eagles lead the NFC East, they looked less than impressive as Cleveland didn’t appear to be all that strong either.

Cincinnati Bengals (9) at Washington Football Team (20)

This was probably the game that ended the Cincinnati Bengals season. Maybe they can try to be competitive the rest of the way, but Joe Burrow was the biggest threat the Bengals had. Perhaps now they can lose out for a high draft pick to maybe take care of protecting their franchise quarterback. But since it’s the Football Team the Steelers play sooner on the schedule, it’s hard to gauge much when the opponent loses their best player in the game.

Tennessee Titans (30) at Baltimore Ravens (24)

I honestly thought the Ravens had a bone to pick with the Titans after knocking them out of the postseason last year. Coming off of a loss in New England, I expected the best they could offer. If that was it, then the Ravens are about to go quietly into the night.

Now that we have closed the page on Week 11 of the NFL season, it’s time to get focused on the next set of games as there is little time in the NFL to dwell on the previous week. For Week 12, here are the three games which could give the most perspective on what the Steelers can expect with some of their future opponents as well as the quality of some of their wins:

Dallas Cowboys at Washington Football Team

Thursday 4:25 PM on FOX

Who would have thought a couple of 3 win teams would actually be important? In reality this game isn’t all that significant apart from the fact that the Washington Football Team is the Steelers Week 13 opponent. Being next on the schedule means seeing how they do the previous week as it is something worth noting.

Los Angeles Chargers at Buffalo Bills

Sunday 1:00 PM on CBS

After hosting Washington, the Steelers will be traveling to the Buffalo Bills for a Sunday night matchup in Week 14. Everything the Bills do between now and this game will be important as they are also a playoff team and offer perhaps the most challenging game the Steelers have left on their schedule, especially since it’s on the road.

Tennessee Titans at Indianapolis Colts

Sunday at 1:00 PM on CBS

Yes, the Steelers play the Cincinnati Bengals before they face the Colts, but a matchup between two 7-3 teams playing for first place in the division seems much more intriguing than a game with two teams with five combined wins. The Colts are still a team I can’t figure out, so the larger body of work available will help get a better gauge on their match up with the Steelers in Week 16.

So there are the three main matchups which may give Steelers fans an indication as to the quality of upcoming and past opponents in 2020. As teams are now in the home stretch, it is becoming more about where teams stand in the playoff picture and how it relates to to Steelers than anything else.

So which of these games will be the most telling as it pertains to the future of the 2020 Pittsburgh Steelers? Make sure you vote in the poll and give your thoughts in the comments below.
