NFL Week 12 Betting Preview: Steelers currently a 10-point favorite against the Ravens

A lot has changed in the days since the Steelers and Ravens were scheduled to face off in Week 12.

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at Baltimore Ravens Mitchell Layton-USA TODAY Sports

The Pittsburgh Steelers were 4.5-point favorites in the days leading up to their Thanksgiving night matchup against the Baltimore Ravens. But with the COVID-19 outbreak raging through the Ravens organization, a lot has changed in regards to the players available in Week 12. Since the betting line has changed so much, I figured it was worth looking at it again.

Can the Steelers keep their franchise record streak going of consecutive wins to start a season? Will they be able to hand the Ravens their third straight loss? Can Baltimore cover the loss of so many key players?

When it comes to the betting lines for Tuesday’s game, the following information is the current consensus spread and over/under for the Steelers this week as reported by oddsshark.com.

Game Info: Week 12

Pittsburgh Steelers vs Baltimore Ravens

Tuesday, December 1, 2020 at 8:00 PM

Betting line: -10

Over/under: 40.5

Last Regular Season Meeting: Steelers (W) 28-24 vs Ravens

Win streak: 1 game PIT

Last 3 Meetings: PIT 1 - 2 BAL

Last 10 Meetings: PIT 5 - 5 BAL

The opening line on the game was at +1 when the schedule was released in May. While the Ravens were favored in every game in 2020 before the season started, they have dropped two straight games while the Steelers are the the lone undefeated team left in the NFL. After the line of -4.5 was established before the Covid outbreak in Baltimore, the line moved heavily in Pittsburgh’s direction.

Being favored on Sunday, the Steelers have a current moneyline on sportsbettingdime.com of -500 to win the game straight up, which is the equivalent of 1/5 odds. So a $20 bet placed on the Steelers over the Ravens would have a payout of $24.00 ($4.00 plus the original $20 bet). The Ravens have a current moneyline of +390, or 39/10 odds. Therefore the same $20 bet placed on Baltimore to win straight up would have a payout of $98 ($78 plus the original $20 bet) .

According to Oddsshark.com, the Steelers are 7-1 against the spread in their last 8 games and are 5-0 straight up the last 5 home games. The Steelers also have gone OVER in 4 of their last 6 games against Baltimore and have gone UNDER in 5 of their lat 7 games played in November.

If looking at the futures bets, the Steelers odds to win the Super Bowl vary from 5/1 to 11/2 and only the Kansas City Chiefs have better odds. The Steelers odds to win the AFC Championship are 13/5 odds. As for winning the AFC North, the Steelers are currently at 1/10 odds and are ahead of Baltimore at 11/2 odds. The Browns are next at 22/1 odds with Cincinnati now eliminated.
