The Pittsburgh Steelers continued their preparation on Thursday for Sunday night’s big matchup in Buffalo with the Bills. In the second injury report for the Steelers for Week 14 courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, the Steelers had three players and miss practice on Thursday.

On a positive note, Steven Nelson returned to practice as a full participant Wednesday and practiced fully again on Thursday. Missing the game on Monday with a knee injury, Nelson appears to be on track to play Sunday night.

As for the players who did not practice due to injury, Joe Haden did not participate again on Thursday and is in the NFL’s concussion protocol. Haden left Monday’s game with the concussion and was unable to return. With physical activity being part of the protocol, the Likelihood of Haden returning by Sunday is very small.

Robert Spillane left Monday’s game in the third quarter with a knee injury. While it is not believed to be serious enough to cost Spillane the season, it could have him miss multiple games. As expected, Spillane did not practice again on Thursday.

Missing Week 13, kicker Chris Boswell also missed practice on Wednesday with a hip injury. Head coach Mike Tomlin was optimistic Boswell would return this week, so Boswell being a full participant on Thursday is definitely a good sign he will be able to return for Week 14.

The other player to miss practice on Wednesday was defensive lineman Chris Wormley due to an illness. While Wormley returned to practice as a full participant Thursday, rookie wide receiver Chase Claypool was added to the injury report as not practicing on Thursday due to illness.

Missing practice on Wednesday were 3 veteran players who sat out not due to injury. Those players include Ben Roethlisberger, David DeCastro, and Alejandra Villanueva. As expected, all three returned to practice on Thursday.

Shortly before the injury report was released, the Steelers announced linebacker Vince Williams was placed on the Reserve/COVID-19 List. No longer on the active roster, Williams does not appear on the injury report but will not be available to play Sunday night in Buffalo.
