The Steelers are preparing for their final contest of the 2020 regular season. With thoughts dwelling more on the playoffs, the biggest question may be who, other than Ben Roethlisberger, is going to be held out on Sunday. The first indication may come in the form of the injury report each day. In the first injury report for the Steelers for Week 17 courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, the Steelers had 3 players out due to injury and 5 miss due to a coach’s decision.

On the injury side of things, the biggest question marks came in the form of players who missed Week 16. What may be one of the most important injuries moving forward is that to kicker Chris Boswell. Missing his second game in the last four weeks, Boswell practiced fully on Wednesday which is a great sign. Linebacker Marcus Allen missed the game against the Colts with a shoulder injury and yet was a full participant on Wednesday as well. Outside linebacker Ola Adeniyi also missed last Sunday’s game with an ankle injury and completes a clean sweep of all players who were out in Week 16 being full participants to start the week.

Missing practice on Wednesday due to injury were Steelers safety Terrell Edmunds with a shoulder. It is quite curious to see Edmunds on the list as there were no injuries reported from the Steelers game against the Colts. Joining Edmunds by not practicing with an injury designation were Stephon Tuitt with a back injury and Tyson Alualu with an ankle injury. With both players being seasoned veterans, their absence may have been as much non-injury related while dealing with minor ailments.

Also included on the report was Ben Roethlisberger who was was already announced will sit out in Week 17. Other players who did not practice on Wednesday with no injury designation were Maurkice Pouncey, David DeCastro, T.J. Watt, and Cameron Heyward. Looking at these players along with Tuitt and Alualu, there may be a better indication of who may be held out on Sunday against the Browns.
