The Pittsburgh Steelers returned on Saturday for their final practice as they prepare to take on the Washington Football Team this coming Monday. In the final injury report for the Steelers for Week 13 courtesy of the Steelers PR Department, several shocking items jump out right away with both quarterback Ben Roethlisberger and kicker Chris Boswell questionable for the game while cornerbacks Steven Nelson is doubtful.

Right away, seeing a questionable designation on quarterback Ben Roethlisberger is very concerning. Although he was listed as a coaches decision along with a knee injury, it is unclear at this time if there is a realistic possibility of Roethlisberger not playing on Monday. Perhaps it was due to him taking the week off from practice which has dictated having an injury status. Roethlisberger did not practice the week before the Cincinnati Bengals game due to being on the Reserve/COVID-19 List as a close contact. Against the Bengals, Roethlisberger threw up for 333 yards and four touchdowns with no practice time other than a walkthrough the game before. With the Steelers having such a short turnaround before Monday’s game, perhaps they felt Roethlisberger would be better off resting his body ahead of Week 13. More news on the Roethlisberger situation should hopefully emerge between now and game time on Monday.
Cornerback Steven Nelson is listed as doubtful for Monday’s game as he has not practiced all week due to a knee injury. Coach Tomlin stated Nelson was dealing with an issue which did not keep him from finishing the Steelers Week 12 game against the Baltimore Ravens, but Nelson was getting an MRI to check something out. There has yet to be a report as to the severity of Nelson‘s injury, but the fact that he is listed as doubtful and not out is telling that the Steelers do not think it is an issue which could be more long-term.
A new player on the injury report on Saturday is kicker Chris Boswell who missed practice with a hip injury and is listed as questionable for Monday’s game. The Steelers did sign kicker Matthew Wright to the practice squad prior to their Week 12 game against the Ravens, so if Boswell is unable to go they do have another option.
