The Behind The Steel Curtain survivor pool continued on in Week 13 as the choices get even tougher as nearly 40% of the teams have been used up. With just over 20 contestants remaining, one upset could take out a large percentage of people remaining. Week 13 looked like it would be the one, but only a couple of entries were eliminated. While technically there were 355 total entries, I had one entry in each league as the commissioner so there were 352 different contestants. Hundreds have entered, but only one can go home with the autographed Maurkice Pouncey football.
Even though the Cowboys and Ravens have yet to play in Week 13, but since nobody made a pick in regards to this game we are closing out our the week and moving on to Week 14.
The most common selection for Week 12 was the Minnesota Vikings over the Jacksonville Jaguars. Unlike last week, the Jaguars were successful on the 2-point conversion and sent the game to overtime. After the Jags held to start the extra period, a costly interception led to the game winning field goal and sent 8 people into Week 14.
The next most popular pick was the Las Vegas Raiders over the New York Jets. In a back-and-forth game, the terrible defensive call with seconds remaining kept the Jets in the lead for the first overall pick, gave the Raiders the win, and allowed 7 contestants another shot next week.
There were only five different games chosen this week with all but one of them being correct. The other correct choices were Green Bay and Miami with the incorrect choice of Seattle eliminating two contestants.
So after thirteen weeks, only 5.4% of entries still remain. Congratulations to the 19 contestants still remaining, but 18 of you will still have to be eliminated. If you are still alive, make sure you enter your pick early so you don’t get knocked out due to a lack of selection. This is your reminder, so go make your pick now! Also, this is the final week of selecting only one team as in Week 15 two correct choices will be required each week.
Upcoming Week 14 Games of Note:
- Most heavily favored: Seattle (-13.5) over New York Jets
- Closest match up: Baltimore (-1) at Cleveland
- The Steelers match up: Pittsburgh (+1.5) at Buffalo
- Byes: None
