The Pittsburgh Steelers are knee deep in the 2020 NFL Free Agency market, and plenty of moves have been made. In just the first week of the free agent frenzy, the team acquired the following players:

FB Derek Watt (Free Agent)
TE Eric Ebron (Free Agent)
G/C Stefen Wisniewski (Free Agent)
DL Chris Wormley (Via Trade)

With the moves which have been made, fans are actually gaining confidence in the team heading into the 2020 season. The SB Nation FanPulse crew has continued to poll fans regarding their overall confidence level, even with NFL Free Agency just getting started.

The latest FanPulse results certainly paint a pretty accurate photo of how fans truly feel:

Considering fan confidence was around 60% at the end of the team’ 8-8 2019 season, confidence has gone up above 70% after the team went out and acquired those four players this past week.

Could fan confidence continue to grow? Absolutely it could with the 2020 NFL Draft upcoming, and the health of Ben Roethlisberger continuing to unfold. While offseason workouts like minicamp and Organized Team Activities (OTAs) are in jeopardy, those events would help solidify Roethlisberger’s overall health. In the meantime, fans will have to bank on the media/team to provide updates on Roethlisberger and his overall progress back to the field.

Does fan confidence hinge on just one player? For the Steelers, 2019 proved that indeed can be the case. With Roethlisberger in the lineup, and an improved defense, the Steelers should be considered a contender. Without No. 7 they would be considered nothing more than pretenders.
