NFL Draft RB breakdown: D’Andre Swift looks to extend list of Georgia standout backs

By: Joe Rutter, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

The 2020 NFL Draft is April 23-25. Each day leading up to the first round, the Tribune-Review is compiling a positional preview of the top draft prospects.

1. D’Andre Swift

Georgia, 5-8, 212

A school that produced Herschel Walker and Terrell Davis has churned out Todd Gurley, Nick Chubb and Sony Michel in recent years. Swift is hoping to follow in their footsteps. Swift rushed for 1,218 yards and seven touchdowns while averaging 6.2 yards per carry as a junior last season. This happened despite Swift being limited to 11 starts because of a shoulder injury. • To be honest, I don’t know why Terry Bradshaw even talks about the Steelers anymore.

Tim Benz: Terry Bradshaw’s contradictions about Mike Tomlin too ironic to ignore

By: Tim Benz, Pittsburgh Tribune-Review

You’ve probably heard the phrase “these are strange times” a lot in recent weeks.

They sure are. So strange there is even some weird stuff happening beyond the entire shutdown of the planet thing that’s been going on for the past month.

For instance, Terry Bradshaw’s interview on 93.7 The Fan last week.

The Steelers of the ’70s, and Bradshaw in particular, are the reason I became a sports fan. The reason I became as obsessed with the sports world as I did. To the degree that I’ve made my life-long passion for it my career.

So imagine my surprise when, by the time the interview was over, I found myself yelling at the radio over something Bradshaw said.

His comments about Ben Roethlisberger being a better quarterback than him? No. That was diplomacy and politics.

Or he genuinely meant it. He may even be right.

  • Think T.J. Watt and Derek Watt will enjoy wearing black-and-gold together in 2020? Their parents might be even more happy!

What a joy for Watt’s parents

By: Teresa Varley, Steelers.com

When Derek Watt signed with the Steelers last month, his brother, linebacker T.J. Watt, wasn’t the only family member who was thrilled with the newest addition to the black and gold.

Watt’s parents, Connie and John Watt, were absolutely beside themselves that two of their three sons would once again be reunited as teammates.

Derek, his wife Gabriella and son Logan, were staying at his parent’s home in Wisconsin when the call came from the Steelers, delivering the good news that he found a new football home. Sure, there had been a little bit of talk about the team’s interest in him circulating around the Watt household for a little while, but none of them were counting on it. Until the call came.

”We knew there were a few teams that were interested having spoken to the boy’s agents,” said John. “He told us Pittsburgh was interested, but he put that one on the back burner because he didn’t want to make too much of that and get hopes up and things. It was a surprise that day when it all went down so quickly. But it was a good surprise.
