The Steelers brought in two defensive backs and two offensive linemen in this most recent transaction. Here is a quick rundown of the players added to the roster.
Defensive back Breon Borders comes to the Steelers with NFL experience in 2019. Borders spent 11 games with the Jacksonville Jaguars last season where he started one game. Borders totaled seven tackles and a fumble recovery in his time in Jacksonville. Sent back to the practice squad in early December, the Washington Redskins signed Borders for their final game of the 2019 season where he remained on their roster until he was cut in March. Undrafted in 2017 out of Duke, Borders spent time on the practice squad‘s of the Oakland Raiders, Buffalo Bills, and Houston Texans before landing on the Jaguars practice squad to finish up the 2018 season.
Tackle Anthony Coyle also had some time on an NFL practice squad in 2019 as he spent two weeks with the Atlanta Falcons in November 2019. Coyle played collegiately at Fordham and most recently was with the New York Guardians of the XFL.
Defensive back Arrion Springs played collegiately in Oregon before bouncing around numerous NFL practice squads until he ultimately landed in the XFL. Drafted by the Tampa Bay Vipers, Springs was traded to the Los Angeles Wildcats.
Center John Keenoy played four seasons at Western Michigan before landing with the Minnesota Vikings after the 2019 draft but did not make the roster. Keenoy played in the XFL for the Dallas Renegades.
