2020 NFL Draft: Know your new Steelers enemies after Round 1

With the Steelers welcoming new players to hopefully strengthen their team, so will their chief rivals. While the Steelers sit idle, take a look at who their AFC North rivals added on Day One and who may haunt Pittsburgh in coming years.

While Steeler Nation waited in torture for Thursday to morph into Friday with out a first round pick in the 2020 Draft, they watched closely to see who their AFC North rivals would select and who could potentially fall down to them at No. 49. Last year, Hollywood Brown and Jonah Williams entered the fray the first day. Here are the guys the Steelers will see twice a year for a good while

Round 1, Pick 1

Cincinnati Bengals select QB Joe Burrow - LSU - Senior 6’4”/221 LBS

2019 Stats: 15 games, 402/527 5671 yards, 60 TDs, 6 INTs, 34 times sacked, 202.0 rating

The Heisman winner has an incredible football IQ and is very accurate. The Macaulay Caulkin doppelgänger can thread the needle in small windows. Scouts have a lot to rave about with this new Tiger King, but not his average arm strength and his small sample size of production. Still, a no-brainer of a pick.

Round 1, Pick 10

Cleveland Browns select OT Jedrick Wills - Alabama - Junior 6’4”/312 LBS

The RT from the Crimson Tide is a tremendous run blocker that’s extremely athletic for a big fella. He also plays with bite and has great smarts. He could probably be plugged in right away into the starting lineup, but he will be playing out of position at LT. Wills isn’t as adept of a pass blocker as he tends to get beat on inside moves in pass protection. This is still the position group that Cleveland needed and Wills had a top ten grade.

Round 1, Pick 28

Baltimore Ravens select ILB Patrick Queen - LSU - Junior 6’0”/229 LBS

2019 Stats: 15 games, 85 tackles, 12 tackles for loss, 3 sacks, 1 interception, 2 passes defense, 1 fumble recovery, 0 forced fumbles

Why do the Ravens always seem to pick great linebackers? He is the kind of player that can give defenses royal fits, just like his surname. I hate him already. Why? Queen blitzes with burst, is smooth in coverage and sniffs out screens well. He’s omnipotent. Although he only played at a high level for one year and gets eaten-up at times by quality blockers, Queen is an absolute baller.

Will Burrow, Queen and Wills be big names in the Steelers-Bengals, Steelers-Ravens and Steelers-Browns rivalry and victimize Pittsburgh for years to come or will they be just another victim of the Black and Gold? We will see.
