Steelers wide receiver Ryan Switzer and his wife Gabie welcomed their first child on Monday. However, the couple would soon be in for the shock of a lifetime. The Switzers had been planning on the arrival of a girl since January, but what doctors handed to the couple was their baby boy!

Christian Francis Switzer was born in Pittsburgh on May 25th weighing in at 8 lbs 2 oz. After months of preparing for their arrival of their daughter, it’s definitely fair to say both parents were in shock of news. But regardless of gender, it’s also safe to say their child having a healthy arrival is more important than anything.

“You’re perfect in every way my boy! Welcome to the world, Christian. Thank you God for a healthy mommy & baby.” Said Ryan Switzer via Instagram.

I’m sure Ryan would like a surprise of his own, surprising some Steelers fans with a bounce back season in 2020. After a promising 2018 season in which Switzer “found his love of football again” the young receiver would take a step back with inconsistent quarterback play and a regression on kick returns. The third-year member of the Steelers has been working hard with a rehabbing quarterback and close friend Ben Roethlisberger.

Coincidentally, Roethlisberger was celebrating his son Bo’s 4th birthday on Tuesday.

Congratulations to Ryan and Gabie. We hope you kept the receipts for all the girl items you may have stockpiled, or at least have a good recipient in mind to whom you can pass them along. And welcome to Steelers’ Nation, Christian!
