Part 16 of our 90-part series— assuming the roster does not change before we are complete— which will break down each player of the Steelers current 90-man roster in alphabetical order. This series will encompass many aspects of each players game and their current role with the team. At the end, I’ll give some projected stats as well as their chances to make the 53-man roster.

This time we spotlight Steelers Long Snapper:

Kameron Canaday

Position: LS
Height: 6’ 4”
Weight: 245 lbs
College: Portland State
Draft: UDFA, 2016 (Cardinals)

2019 stats

16 Games played

Contract remaining

Expires in 2021

$1,135,00 salary cap number (0.57% of total cap)

$450,000 dead money

$685,000 cap savings if cut

Likelihood of making the roster

Lock. Believe it or not Canaday actually has some competition heading into camp, linebacker/long snapper Christian Kuntz. That being said, cutting Canaday would set the team back nearly $500k so I highly doubt he’s going anywhere unless he completely forgot how to snap the ball.

2020 projection

How’s this for expert analysis, I predict Canaday won't botch a single snap... Long snapping stats are fun... Give me a break...

Projected stats:

16 Games played

Summary

Kameron Canaday, has been a fine long snapper for the Steelers. The best thing we can say about him is that we haven't had to talk about him since he came to the team in 2017. Much like his predecessor, Greg Warren he has been consistent and low maintenance. You can't ask for anything more from your long snapper.
