As Pittsburgh Steelers fans sit here on August 24th, it may seem crazy, but in three short weeks the black-and-gold will be on the road in MetLife Stadium in New Jersey preparing for the New York Giants in Week 1.
With 2020 being such a crazy year, it is hard to believe the NFL season will be starting on time, but there has been no evidence to support anything else taking place when the Houston Texans travel to play the defending Super Bowl champion Kansas City Chiefs on Thursday Night Football to kick off the regular season.
A lot can change in a very short period of time, but as of right now it seems like all system go for the 2020 regular season to be off and running on schedule. Which means the Steelers and Giants will be locking horns in the early game on ESPN’s Monday Night Football double header.
What will fans have to look forward to in Week 1? Here is a little taste of what to expect:
Opponent: Giants
2019 record: 4-12
Overall history: 44-30-3 for Giants
Last 4 games: 3-1 for Steelers
Opening line: Steelers (-3)
Date: Monday, Sept. 14
Time: 7:15 p.m.
Place: East Rutherford, N.J.
It will be Ben Roethlisberger vs. Daniel Jones, and Saquon Barkley vs. the stout Steelers defense. Who wins is still a talking point, and one which will be discussed relentlessly in the next three weeks.
In the meantime, sit back and enjoy the fact Steelers football is finally on the horizon, and will be here before you know it.
Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the black-and-gold as they plow through their Heinz Field training camp and prepare for the 2020 regular season.
