The world has recently been rocked by events which have unfolded leaving many to shake their heads in disbelief. Events which can be labeled as unjust, and unfair. These events have impacted the sports world as the NBA Playoffs, NHL Playoffs and Major League Baseball have all postponed, or halted, play to make a clear statement about the social injustice going on in the world today.
Thursday several NFL teams canceled their practices or workouts, but the Pittsburgh Steelers stayed true to their schedule. However, Mike Tomlin made it very clear the organization wasn’t about to be silent, they just wanted to use their platform in a meaningful way.
Prior to Friday night’s practice at Heinz Field, Mike Tomlin and General Manager Kevin Colbert stood in front of the entire Steelers’ roster, standing and locking arms, as Tomlin spoke to those in attendance, and fans around the world.
He spoke about their privilege to work in the NFL, their platform and how they can help induce change within their society. Check out the video below:

The Steelers then huddled in the middle of the field to pray before they took the field for practice under the lights of Heinz Field.
