The Pittsburgh Steelers and Houston Texans are getting read to square off at Heinz Field in Week 3. Leading up to the game, many questions abound. One of those questions being, “Who should I start in my fantasy football league?”
Whether you play daily fantasy football, or a traditional league, this article will outline who you should start, sit and maybe a player you can take a chance on during this 1 p.m. ET showdown between AFC foes.
Le’ts get down to business...
Start ‘em
Ben Roethlisberger
Roethlisberger has been extremely efficient in his first two starts in 2020, and has been taking what the defense gives him early and often. This has resulted in a high completion percentage, and putting up touchdowns in the red-zone via the pass. Roethlisberger has thrown at least two touchdowns in his first two games, and I expect this trend to continue in Week 3.
Diontae Johnson
Johnson is a dynamic player, and someone I think fantasy owners should start in Week 3. When you hear Roethlisberger talk about building a rapport with Johnson, and him targeting him relentlessly in practice, it usually equates to passes being thrown his way during the game. Johnson is as slippery as they come, so be ready for him to do some damage vs. the Texans’ defense. The main question will be if he hits pay dirt or not...
Eric Ebron
Just like Johnson, Ebron is a player who is ready to break out. After just a few targets in Week 1, Ebron was able to haul in 3 passes for 43 yards. I expect both his targets and receptions to go up, and him to score his first touchdown in a black-and-gold uniform. Ebron plays well against Houston, and he will be a key cog in the Steelers’ offense Sunday.
Sit ‘em
Vance McDonald
With Ebron being the more athletic, and efficient, tight end, McDonald has been asked to do more blocking that pass catching. Great for the Steelers’ running game, bad for fantasy football owners.
James Washington
Washington could be a player who surprises on a weekly basis, but with the emergence of rookie Chase Claypool I don’t see him being a reliable player to insert into your lineup weekly. If an injury occurs, that changes the dynamic, but with everyone healthy I would keep Washington on the bench.
Benny Snell Jr.
When you fumble two times in two games Mike Tomlin is going to hesitate putting you back on the field. I expect Snell will get more touches in Week 3, but they will be sprinkled in between James Conner carries. Snell could repeat his Week 1 performance, but I wouldn’t risk it considering he could also have a repeat of Week 2.
Take a Chance
Chase Claypool
Will the rookie continue to be the big play man for the Steelers? It might be feast or famine for the former Notre Dame product early this season.
James Conner
The Steelers’ running game has been sporadic. The numbers are good, but they are extremely inconsistent. Inconsistency doesn’t play well in fantasy football, so I would stay away from Pittsburgh running backs until they can show more consistency.
