The Pittsburgh Steelers’ 2020 season is over, and Monday afternoon black and gold fans were enamored with rumors of Maurkice Pouncey calling it a career and plans to retire. This all stemming from a blurb in an article from Dale Lolley of DKPittsburghSports.
Lolley took to Twitter to say his comment was strictly speculation, not a report of any kind.
To be clear, I did not report that @MaurkicePouncey is officially retiring. I did report that it certainly appeared that he is retiring. He'll make that official announcement on his own. That was part of my 10 Thoughts from yesterday's game.

So, where did this all stem from? It stemmed from a post-game interaction between Ben Roethlisberger and Pouncey on the sideline. The two teammates, and friends, shared a genuine moment together, and of course cameras were there to catch everything.

As for the full clip of the interaction, without the audio, check and see what NBC showed of the Steelers’ aftermath following the deflating loss to the Cleveland Browns in the Wild Card round of the AFC Playoffs.

Will Pouncey call it a career? No one really knows at this point, but you can’t help but notice the genuine moment between these two veterans on the Steelers’ roster. Could both Pouncey and Roethlisberger call it a career at the same time? It certainly is possible, but I wouldn’t expect any news on this front anytime soon.
In the meantime, be sure to stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes on the Steelers as they now turn their attention to NFL Free Agency, and the ever important 2021 NFL Draft.
