2nd Quarter In-Game Update

Cleveland received the football to start the second half, but were only able to muster one first down before having to punt the ball to the Steelers. Mason Rudolph and the Steelers’ offense continued to be reliant on the big play, and this time the pass was completed to Chase Claypool to get the offense into field goal range.

But the drive stalled and the Steelers called on Matthew Wright for a 46-yard field goal, again, which was good. The kick made the score 10-9 with 8:29 left in the third quarter.

Desperately needing a drive, the Steelers’ defense struggled to get off the field on key third down situations. On a big 3rd down, Baker Mayfield was able to run his way into the red-zone. Just a few plays later had Mayfield hitting Austin Hooper for the Browns’ touchdown. The Parker point-after was good, making the score 17-9 with 3:48 left in the third quarter.

Rudolph faced a huge 3rd and 8 on the Steelers’ next drive, and he made his first big mistake of the game. The pass intended for JuJu Smith-Schuster was intercepted and returned into the red-zone. The Browns had the ball in a first-and-goal situation at the end of the third quarter.
