The Pittsburgh Steelers are coming out of their bye week and are as healthy as they could hope to be. As the Steelers take the practice field for their first day of preparation for the Cleveland Browns, only five names were on the injury list. In the first injury report of the week courtesy of the Steelers PR department, there were three players who were limited as nobody missed practice.

While some were unsure what to expect, quarterback Ben Roethlisberger practiced for the first time on a Wednesday in 2021. Listed as a limited participant, this simply means Roethlisberger did participate but may not have done every activity in which he would regularly partake in a normal practice. Not having played a game in 10 days, it was good for Roethlisberger to get some extra work without doing too much heading into the Steelers contest this Sunday against the Cleveland Browns. As expected, Roethlisberger was still listed as having a pectoral/hip injury.

After being limited two of the three days leading up to the Steelers last game, Chase Claypool played in Week 6 despite his hamstring injury. Perhaps not wanting to push the envelope too much, Claypool is also listed as limited in practice on Wednesday. Exactly how limited Claypool was remains to be seen, but Coach Tomlin did not seem to have any concerns with his availability for Week 8 when addressing injuries in his press conference on Tuesday.

Hating to see yet another groin injury, Melvin Ingram was listed as being limited on Wednesday. With all three of the Steelers top outside linebackers having some sort of groin issues so far in 2021, perhaps Ingram was just joining the club. Hopefully there will be no issues with Ingram moving forward towards Sunday’s game as he has become a key piece to the Steelers’ third-down dime package.

Two players listed on the Andrew report as full participants with knee injuries were Anthony McFarland, who just came off IR on Wednesday, and Zach Banner. With both players recently coming off of the Reserve/Injured List, neither has played in a regular-season game in 2021. Being able to practice fully, both players hope to make their debut this Sunday.
