Steelers vs. Packers, Week 4: Predicting the winner of Steelers vs. Packers

The staff at BTSC share their thoughts and predict the outcome of the Steelers game against the Green Bay Packers in Week 4.

NFL: Pittsburgh Steelers at Green Bay Packers Jeff Hanisch-USA TODAY Sports

The 2021 regular season is upon us, and the Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the Green Bay Packers in Week 4. While the Steelers get ready for their second home game of the season, it is time for the BTSC staff to put on their prognostication hats and guess the winner of the contest.

Who will get closest? We will be keeping tabs, so let’s get the picks. Check out the staff picks below, and even a pick from an enemy guest!

Jeff Hartman

I’m a homer, so I always pick the Steelers, but this week I see the team having a legitimate shot at beating the Packers. No one thought they stood a chance vs. the Buffalo Bills in Week 1, and it will take that type of performance to beat the Packers. They’ll need help from special teams and defense to beat Aaron Rodgers and company, but the find a way.

Pick: Steelers 24, Packers 20

Dave Schofield

I have got the Steelers game wrong every game this season. For that reason I will be giving the fans what they want and I will deliver my ‘kiss of death’ to the Green Bay Packers much like I did the Bills in Week 1. You’re welcome, Steelers’ Nation. I am confident in the Steelers point total being somewhat close, but it will be up to the defense to keep the Packers in check if they hope to pull this one off.

Pick: Packers 31, Steelers 23

Bryan Anthony Davis

Sometimes I go with my gut when it comes to picks, then other instances I choose to base my decisions on my head. The Packers are the prohibitive favorites and yeah they should be. But my gut thinks that the reports of the Steelers ultimate demise are premature. The defense of the Men of Steel have been banged up, but they are indeed getting healthy. They might need to help out the offense, but I think the offensive line might get some help in the run game with either Joe hang or Zach Banner in the lineup.

Pick: Steelers 27, Packers 26

Michael Beck

I’m going to have a hard time picking the Steelers to win another game, until the offense can prove they can move the ball on consistent basis. The Steelers feel reliant on a pick six or a special teams touchdown to be competitive in games and that's no way to win in todays pass heavy/high scoring game. Aaron Rodgers won't have to carve the Steelers defense much in order for the Packers to be victorious.

Pick: Packers 24, Steelers 13

K.T. Smith

I second the sentiment expressed by Dave Schofield above. I too am a hapless 0-3 picking the Steelers this season, and I also think they will lose at Lambeau Field on Sunday. That should bring joy to the eyes and ears of Steelers Nation and all but guarantee another upset road victory.

Pick: Packers 27, Steelers 16

Geoffrey Benedict

The Steelers have me convinced they cannot win this game, so I’m going to pick them to win it, because that’s what Mike Tomlin teams do, they win games they shouldn’t and lose games they shouldn’t. So forget everything else and let’s go get a win somehow Steelers!

Pick: T.J. Watt 23, Packers 20.

Rich Schofield (Big Bro Scho)

Can anybody truthfully say that they have trust in the Steelers as a team right now? In particular I don't see the offense suddenly fixing all of its struggles in one week. Nice to get some of the players back on defense, but it won't make the difference as the Packers prevail.

Pick: Packers 30, Steelers 20

Shannon White

Every knowledgeable Steelers fan knew the offense was destined to struggle in the early stages of this season. It's a process, and it takes time to cultivate. I was hoping that the Steelers stellar defense could carry more than their fair share in the first quarter of the season. Nobody could have foreseen all the injuries however. With almost a full crew ready to take the field on Sunday, any hopes for victory lie once again with the defense, as the offense strives for relevancy.

Pick: Packers 30, Steelers 20

Andrew Wilbar

Call me unreasonable, but I actually like how the Steelers match up against Green Bay. Their pass rush without Za’Darius Smith is quite pedestrian, which hopefully means that the offensive line will not be quite as overmatched this week. It is also worth noting that Ben Roethlisberger has never lost a regular season game to the Packers, averaging 340 passing yards per game against them. With a healthy T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith, I think the Steelers will be able to put enough pressure on Aaron Rodgers to force a mistake or two.

Pick: Steelers 25, Packers 20

Matty Peverell

The Defense is going to have to show up because relying on the offense too is foolhardy. If Watt and Highsmith are back then they stand a real shot of forcing some errors from Rodgers, look for Joe Haden or Minkah Fitzpatrick to capitalize on any awry throws. I think this game will be decided by 4 points, somehow I’m going to pick the Steelers, even though that’s more foolhardy than expecting the offense to show up.

Pick: Steelers 24, Packers 20

Mark Davison

The Pittsburgh Steelers are not playing competitive football right now. However that does not mean the Steelers are tanking for the number One draft pick In the 2022 NFL draft. This football team Is young and has limited experience working together. Still no excuses though As the team needs to play better then the past two weeks. This Week Vs the Green Bay Packers I don’t care If the Steelers lose. My only worry Is who will show up?

Pick: Packers 38, Steelers 24

Anthony Defeo

This is the classic “back up against the wall” game for the Steelers and head coach Mike Tomlin. Things are a lot better this week on the injury front, and I certainly expect a more spirited effort than what was on display against the Bengals. However, I think the Packers will win rather convincingly.

Pick: Packers 30, Steelers 17

Joe Meerdink (Acme Packing Company)

After a bit of a rough start, I think the Packers have figured things out on offense and they’ve been clicking over the past couple of weeks. I think the Packers win and cover.

Pick: Packers 31, Steelers 21
