BTSC Survivor Pool Update: Week 9 results

It was another week on a largepercentage of eliminations.

The Behind The Steel Curtain survivor pool continued on in Week 9 this past weekend as the choices get harder after many top teams have already been used. With four leagues completely filled with 100 entries, the fifth league finished with 46 participants. While technically there are 446 total entries, I have one entry in each league as the commissioner so there were 442 different contestants. Hundreds have entered, but only one can go home with the autographed Joe Haden Football.

The most common selection for Week 9 was the Dallas Cowboys over the Denver Broncos. The Broncos kept the Cowboys shut out through most of the game until the points were too little too late. In doing so, 54 contestants were eliminated.

The next most popular picks were the Indianapolis Colts over the New York Jets on Thursday Night Football and the Pittsburgh Steelers over the Chicago Bears on Monday night. The Colts were able to blow the game open in the second quarter and it never got very close the rest of the way. As for the Steelers, they looked to be running away with things only to need a late field goal to take back the lead. Between those two games, they sent another 23 contestants on to the next round.

As for other games which eliminated contestants, eight were eliminated by picking the Buffalo Bills, five were eliminated by taking the New Orleans Saints, two were eliminated by choosing the Las Vegas Raiders, and one person chose the Los Angeles Rams. After eight weeks, only one person failed to make their pick in Week 9. It was the first week of the contest in which more contestants (including me) were eliminated than those who made it through.

So after nine weeks, exactly half way through the regular season, now only 7.6% of the entries still remain. If you are still alive, make sure you enter your pick early so you don’t get knocked out due to a lack of selection. This is your reminder, so go make your pick now!
