Friday Night Steelers Six Pack of questions and open thread: Offseason Vol. 5

There is always something to talk about when it comes to the black-and-gold!

It’s Friday again, so it’s time for the six pack of questions. It seems as if Jeff and Dave come to a consensus in cutting to the chase...

This week, I, Dave, will be tasked with the questions up for discussion.

The rules are still the same...

Quick rundown of the ground rules.

  • I’ll ask at least four questions strictly related to the Steelers.
  • The rest of the questions could be about anything.
  • Be respectful.
  • Have fun talking about the Black-and-gold.

Procedural Note: Since the title feature has gone away, please feel free to leave your usual title as the first line of your response and even bold it if you can for the ease of others.

So here we go! With the formalities out of the way, it’s time to jump on in. Hopefully this party is exactly what you’re looking for on a Friday night. Here goes:

1. Today was a big news day with the retirement of Maurkice Pouncey. In making the Pro Bowl every season he played more than eight snaps, do you think Pouncey gets into the Pro Football Hall of Fame?

2. With Pouncey’s retirement, the Steelers have a huge hole at center. The starting center for the Steelers in Week 1 of 2021 is...on the roster right now, acquired via free agency, or drafted in the 2021 NFL draft? (You may count J.C. Hassenauer as on the roster even though he is an exclusive right free agent as all the Steelers have to do is say they want him and he’s on the team.)

3. J.J. Watt was given his requested release from the Houston Texans today. Immediately, brother T.J. was beckoning him to Pittsburgh (as seen below). Salary cap issues aside, are you down with this?

4. I’m sure most of us have’t already made tens of millions of dollars, but would you take a pay cut in order to live close to and work with an immediate family member?

5. Ben Roethlisberger, Joe Haden, Stephon Tuitt, Cam Heyward, Steven Nelson, David DeCastro, Eric Ebron, Vince Williams, Chris Boswell, and Derek Watt. These are the players still on the Steelers roster not on a rookie deal and costing at least $2 million on the 2021 salary cap. Pick one who does not make it to training camp as part of the Steelers. Why?

6. I asked this question on the Scho Bro Show podcast on Tuesday: Not counting the Hall of Fame Game, how many preseason games do you think each NFL team will play in 2021? Will they cut the number down from four with the possibility of a 17th game, or with playing none last season do you think they will simply reduce the number?

Stay safe out there!

And it wouldn’t be a Friday night unless we said...
