The Pittsburgh Steelers added a couple of outside free agents over the weekend in Joe Haeg and Miles Killebrew. While The financials of the contracts were not known at the time, the numbers on Joe Haeg have been reported by Aaron Wilson of he Houston Chronicle.

With a $1 million salary for 2021 along with a $1 million signing bonus, Haeg’s salary cap number for 2021 comes in at $1.5 million. After factoring in roster displacement, Haeg adds $840k onto the Steelers 2021 salary cap.

Where things get interesting is in year two for Haeg’s contract as he is due a base salary of $2.1 million as well as a $500k roster bonus. With all things considered, his salary cap number for next season is $3.1 million. Should the Steelers decide to move on after one year, only $500k would be dead money.

Drafted in the fifth round of the 2016 NFL draft by the Indianapolis Colts, Haeg spent four seasons in Indy where he started 35 of 55 games. Signing a one-year, $2.3 million contract with the Buccaneers last offseason, Haeg started three games for the Super Bowl champions during the regular season.
