There are often stories in professional sports you never thought you’d cover. For the Pittsburgh Steelers, no story get as odd as Tyson Alualu’s return to the Steelers.

To give you a quick synopsis, Alualu was slated to fly to Florida to sign his new contract with the Jacksonville Jaguars. Before getting on the plane he tested positive for COVID-19. This required Alualu to remain in Pittsburgh for 10 days before he would be able to travel.

During that time several of his Steelers teammates did some heavy recruiting for him to stay. On top of that, Alualu had built his dream home and his family’s roots were pretty deep in the 412 area code.

Next thing you know, Alualu was telling the Jaguars he is staying in Pittsburgh on a two-year contract. To be exact, it was the same contract offer the Steelers originally gave Alualu, not a matching offer from the Steelers.

Needless to say, several Steelers defenders were ecstatic to hear the news, and took to social media to celebrate the return of one of their own. Take a look at some of the messages sent out after news broke late Saturday night.
