The Pittsburgh Steelers are preparing for the 2021 NFL Draft next Thursday, but there is another concern which has now entered the organization, and that was the arrest of cornerback Justin Layne.
According to multiple media reports, Layne was arrested early Friday morning, at roughly 3 a.m. ET in Cleveland, Ohio. The charges which were surrounding his arrest were driving with a suspended license and a firearm violation.

The following was published by the WTAE news desk regarding Layne’s arrest:
According to the jail roster, Layne, 23, is charged with driving under suspension, a speed limit violation and having a firearm in his vehicle.
He was booked into the Lake County Jail around 3 a.m.
Layne is entering his third seasons with the Steelers after being drafted out of Michigan State. The Cleveland native has been primarily a special teams player, and someone the Steelers would be looking to fill the cornerback role left vacant when they released Steven Nelson and lost Mike Hilton via Free Agency.
This could be just a minor bump in the road for Layne, but it also could be the end of the road with the Steelers. The Pittsburgh Steelers organization has shown great patience with some players within the organization, and very little with others. It will be interesting to see how the Steelers handle this situation.
UPDATE: According to Ray Fittipaldo of The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette, Layne was traveling with two other passengers in the car and there was marijuana in the vehicle although no drug charges were filed. Layne was reportedly traveling 89 mph in a 60 mph zone and had an outstanding warrant for failing to appear in court for another traffic violation.
No drug charges, but Layne was also cited for speeding. A Steelers spokesman said the team is aware of the incident and is gathering information. They will have no further comment at this time.
