The Pittsburgh Steelers are a team in transition, and no one really knows what to expect from them in 2021. Sure, everyone has their own thoughts and opinions on Ben Roethlisberger’s abilities at age 39, some will bemoan the losses of Bud Dupree and Mike Hilton, but no one really knows exactly what this Steelers team will look like this upcoming season.
With all of the aforementioned aspects of the upcoming season, there are relative unknowns. How will the Steelers’ offense look under Matt Canada? Will Adrian Klemm make a difference along the offensive line, and help improve the running game? How will the 2021 NFL Draft picks be able to help the team succeed?
On top of all that, there is the fact the upcoming season will be the first of its kind. There will be 17 regular season games played, and this will throw a wrench in a lot of things, including gambling odds.
No longer is a .500 a possibility for NFL teams, so when the folks at Draft Kings put out their first win total lines for 2021, it was worth checking out. According to Draft Kings, the Pittsburgh Steelers win total number is set at 8.5.
8.5 is a tough total for the Steelers, coming off a 12-4 2020 campaign. The Steelers have a tough schedule in 2021, paired with the AFC West (Chiefs, Broncos, Raiders and Chargers), the NFC North (Packers, Bears, Lions and Vikings), the AFC winners of the South and East (Titans and Bills) and the Seahawks will be coming to Heinz Field as the extra game this season. Talk about a tough road to run, but many would suggest the Steelers typically play up to their competition.
Knowing the win total at 8.5, if you were to put money on the Steelers, where would you put your money? On the Steelers winning 9 or more games? Or on the Steelers not getting to the 9 game mark. Keep in mind this is based on a 17-game regular season schedule.
You also might be curious about the win totals for the rest of the division, and here they are:
AFC North Win Totals
Baltimore Ravens: 11
Cleveland Browns: 9.5
Pittsburgh Steelers: 8.5
Cincinnati Bengals: 6.5
