After drafting Pat Freiermuth and Kendrick Green on Day 2 of the 2021 NFL draft, the Steelers currently have six tight ends and fourteen offensive linemen on the roster. The projected depth chart for these positions for the Steelers is as follows:

Tight Ends

  1. Eric Ebron
  2. Pat Freiermuth
  3. Zach Gentry
  4. Kevin Rader
  5. Dax Raymond
  6. Charles Jones

In 2021, the Steelers carried only two tight ends on the active roster for the majority of the season. Using the practice squad to have another player or two, it’s unclear if the Steelers will follow the same approach this season or not. By taking Freiermuth in the second round of the 2021 draft, he should instantly be inserted at the TE2 position going into the season. With how things sit at the moment, it appears the final four players will be fighting for what will likely be two positions including the practice squad.

Offensive Line

  1. David DeCastro
  2. Chukwuma Okorafor
  3. Zach Banner
  4. Kevin Dotson
  5. B.J. Finney
  6. Joe Haeg
  7. Kendrick Green
  8. J.C. Hassenauer
  9. Rashaad Cowerd
  10. Aviante Collins
  11. Anthony Coyle
  12. Jarron Jones
  13. John Leglue
  14. Brandon Walton

Exactly were players fall when looking at the entire offensive line is quite difficult. With the top five players being the players who will likely be called the starters to begin offseason activities, their exact order is insignificant. The next two players are likely Joe Haeg and the newly drafted Kendrick Green. Both players should have ample opportunity to move into the starting lineup should they prove they are the best option. Additionally, J.C. Hassenauer and Rasheed Coward have starting experience and are likely the next two guys who could earn a spot.

Of the final five players on the list, Aviante Collins is the only one who has actually appeared in an NFL game although he is new to the Steelers. The other four players were all on the Steelers 2020 practice squad at some point.

Although the Steelers have a good number of players at the position, don’t be surprised if they add another offensive lineman who is drafted on Day 3 of the 2021 NFL draft or as an undrafted free agent. The Steelers typically carry either eight or nine offensive linemen on the active roster during the regular season as well as several on the practice squad.
