Steelers fans cannot contain their excitement for the teams newest running back. That excitement has turned into Steelers Nation opening their collective wallets to purchase Najee Harris uniforms to a degree we may have never seen before for a rookie. According to Fox Sports, Najee Harris’ home Steelers jersey is the seventh most purchased jersey across the league. This not only makes him the most purchased Steelers player in the NFL, but also the most purchased running back. Technically speaking, he’s also the highest purchased non-quarterback (or former quarterback) on the list.

From his dominance on the field during his time at Alabama, to the immense charity work he does off the field, and finally his cool personality, it’s easy to see why Harris has become so popular in the fan base. But it’s hard to look past how quickly Steelers Nation has embraced him. Sure the kid checks all the boxes, but he hasn't even taken an NFL snap yet. After years of being a Steelers fan, you pick up on how long it usually takes a prospect to endear himself to the culture of the community, but Najee Harris has most definitely broken the record of how fast he has gained the love of Steelers Nation.
I don’t think a Steelers player has ever taken the city by storm quite like we’ve seen with Harris. At the rate he is going, Harris will end up on the marquee before Week 1. There’s nothing wrong with having excitement over a game-changing type of player, but for the sake of Steelers’ fans let’s hope he can live up to these astronomical expectations we are placing on him.
If Harris runs well in year one I’m sure we will see that number 22 skyrocket up jersey sales lists with each passing month. Heck, if he’s able to take down some of Franco Harris’ rookie records he might just become the merchandise king in Pittsburgh sports.
But what do you think? Have you already purchased a Najee Harris jersey? Are you planning on it? Let us know your thoughts down in the comments below.
