With fans still scheduled to be in the stands, there should be plenty to report about practice. And when the Steelers are on the field, we will be compiling as much information as to what is going on at practice as we possibly can.
Check out the information below as the players continue their preparation for the 2021 season. If any additional information or reports become available, they will be updated below.

Mike Tomlin welcomes the crowd on the mic for the second practice in a row. He's really fired up to have fans in the stands again.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
Art Rooney II liked the size of the crowd that is showing up Saturday for Steeler Fest: "The last few days have felt special getting people back in the building and have people feel like they are part of Steelers football again. it’s long overdue."
— Joe Rutter (@tribjoerutter) July 31, 2021
Guys who will be limited today for the Steelers, based on their attire: Stephon Tuitt, Zach Banner.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
Elsewhere on the OL, Chuks Okorafor and Kevin Dotson are in full uniform, so perhaps today is the day they join the Steelers' starters for some team work.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
Some other Steelers not in pads for practice today: Ben Roethlisberger, TJ Watt, Trai Turner, BJ Finney.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
Steelers first-team offense going through their walk-thru, with Ben Roethlisberger at QB, Pat Freiermuth at TE, Zach Banner at RT, Kendrick Green at C, Rashaad Coward at LG, Chuks Okorafor at LT. The Big 3 at receiver, of course.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
For the second-team offense in walk-thru, Kevin Dotson is the left guard and JC Hassenauer the right guard. Dan Moore at LT, Joe Haeg at RT. John Leglue playing C. Dwayne Haskins at QB, Kalen Ballage at RB.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
One Steeler now in pads (and shorts) for practice today: Ben Roethlisberger, who figures to throw some footballs for a sizable Saturday crowd here at Heinz Field.

Cassius Marsh, who limped off during yesterday's practice, isn't in pads today, but he is wearing a bucket hat and participating in stretch.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
Dwayne Haskins and Mason Rudolph have been splitting reps with the 2s today during walkthrough, but Haskins has taken more.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
Tomlin reiterated yesterday that every position has open competition -- even No. 2 QB.
Dino Tomlin, son of Mike, taking in practice on the Heinz Field sideline with his dad and Steelers GM Kevin Colbert. Imagine the wealth of football knowledge he's gonna have by the time he's done playing college ball at Maryland.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
Meanwhile, Rudolph now gets the first reps in 7 shots.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
Team is using backup QBs more in practice with HOF game next week.
Rough start for Steelers offense in 7 Shots drill, with Mason Rudolph at the helm. Nice PBU by James Pierre on Chase Claypool, then an errant throw from Rudolph to JuJu, then a bad drop by Diontae Johnson over the middle for what should've been an easy TD.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
Josh Dobbs finds Kalen Ballage on back-to-back plays for scores to keep it from being a straight defensive sweep in today's 7 Shots.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
Steelers are doing RB-LB open-field drills now, always fun to watch. Derek Watt hit a juke move that looked like R1 on Madden, made Calvin Bundage miss badly. Robert Spillane then tossed Najee Harris to the ground on the next rep.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
Mike Tomlin said yesterday his tight ends were too banged up for the very important TE-on-OLB run block drill, but they're apparently healthy enough to go today.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
Zach Gentry has looked pretty good in his reps.
The Pat Freiermuth-Alex Highsmith battles in this drill have been really fun to watch. Hard to tell exactly who's winning without refs throwing flags, but it seems the rookie is keeping it close.

Chase Claypool finished off the one-on-one WR/CB blocking by pancaking Justin Layne.

After watching an 11-on-11 run team period in pads, all I can say is, the offensive line is going to need some work.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
Also a pair of fumbles - one on the first play between Green and Roethlisberger under center, the second between Rudolph and Leglue.
Ben Roethlisberger running some sprints on the side during a special teams drill. Don't recall seeing that a whole lot in the past.
— Dale Lolley (@dlolley_pgh) July 31, 2021
Najee Harris had a spectacular five-yard run in the 11-on-11 run drill. Heyward had immediate penetration. He escaped a tackle attempt three yards in the backfield, made another guy miss and wound up getting five yards around left end.

Ben Roethlisberger much sharper out of the shotgun in an 11-on-11 passing drill. Went 3 for 4 with completions to JuJu 2x and Pat Freiermuth, only incompletion thrown a bit behind and dropped by Najee Harris. Cam Heyward nearly got a piece of that last one.
— Brian Batko (@BrianBatko) July 31, 2021
Dwayne Haskins just threw a frozen rope over the middle that clanged off Zach Gentry’s enormous hands, popped 8 million feet in the air, then got picked off by UDFA cornerback Shakur Brown.

Shakur Brown with an interception
— Mark Kaboly (@MarkKaboly) July 31, 2021
On the next play, Roethlisberger started under center and handed off to Najee Harris, who hit a hole and saw green grass in front of him. He took that one to the end zone, too, much to the delight of the crowd.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
OL Anthony Coyle down on the field after a play, holding his knee and looks to be in immense pain.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
A short pass to JuJu who is tackled for a 3 yard gain. He proceeds to run to the end zone and dances and the crowd goes wild here at Heinz
— Mark Kaboly (@MarkKaboly) July 31, 2021
After a rough team run drill, Ben Roethlisberger rebounded with 3/4 in 11-on-11 passing from the shotgun. Only miss was intended for Najee Harris and Cam Heyward nearly got some of it.
— Brooke Pryor (@bepryor) July 31, 2021
2s and 3s reps marked by dropped passes and a pick by Shakur Brown.

Highsmith working on the right side of the defense today. Ingram on the left.
— Dale Lolley (@dlolley_pgh) July 31, 2021
Party like it’s the mid-2000s: Ben Roethlisberger just looked like the Big Ben of old, scrambling around, extending the play until Diontae Johnson got open in the back of the end zone. Roethlisberger hit him to finish the 2-min drill with a TD. Believe it was fourth down.
