Is Joe Schobert the missing piece?

Have we simply found the stop gap for Vince or have we found the next James Farrior?

First let me say I loved the way Vince played the game. He was as close to a throwback as you can get in today’s NFL. He was a thumper and when he got home he typically had bad intentions. Yes he was not a coverage linebacker and that fact seemed to show up at inopportune times but he was a Steeler that we could embrace.

When James Farrior arrived it wasn’t to huge fan fair but as it turns out it should have been. He became the defensive captain out team needed. He became our field general. Yes he was gifted athletically as well but his biggest contribution was between his ears.

In that same vain did we just find our next field general? Bush is more talented but he’s young and still trying to figure out who he is as a player. To put all those responsibilities on him isn’t fair to him or the team. Now we have someone who has seen it all. He knows how to read what an offense is going to do. He’s a film rat. He’s a general.

While we have had a special group on defense for these past couple years we occasionally found ourselves making a mistake here and there. What if Joe is that missing piece that takes our defense from top five to elite? What do you think?
