The Pittsburgh Steelers 2021 Training Camp is winding down and head coach Mike Tomlin once again spoke to reporters following practice. Even though it was very brief, which is becomeing a trand towards the end of camp, there was still enough to look at the players mentioned by Coach Tomlin during his media time. Remember these are current players where a specific question was asked during the Q&A period.
Chase Claypool
Steelers fans got a pretty big scare at the end of Tuesday’s practice when Ben Roethlisberger and Eric Ebron had to assist Chase Claypool to the locker room with a lower leg injury. Coach Tomlin was asked if he had any more information on Claypool’s injury.
“No, he’s being evaluated.”
NOTE: It has been reported Claypool’s ankle injury is not too serious.
Ben Roethlisberger
The Steelers are treating Week 2 of the preseason like a normal NFL week. Since they play on Saturday night, Tuesday’s practice was treated much like that of one on a Wednesday during the regular season. Coach Tomlin was asked if he gave Ben Roethlisberger more reps during Tuesday’s practice in order to help get him ready for Saturday night.
“Yeah, but like I said, it was a normal Wednesday. Nothing unusual from a “Wednesday” standpoint.”
Kendrick Green
After being excused the previous two practices, Kendrick Green returned to the Steelers starting lineup on the offensive line. Coach Tomlin was asked if Green is “the guy” at center.
“You could surmise that but there will be no bold announcements.”
Stephon Tuitt
Another player who has been on a long comeback trail is Steelers defensive end Stephon Tuitt. Coach Tomlin was asked if Tuitt’s planned absence on Tuesday was part of him coming back.
“Yes.”
