Steelers Injury Report: Alex Highsmith listed as questionable for Sunday’s game

The Pittsburgh Steelers have concluded their preparation for Week 1 of the regular season and are set to take on the Buffalo Bills this Sunday. In the final injury report of the week courtesy of the Steelers PR department, Alex Highmith is the only player with an injury status and is listed as questionable for Sunday’s game.

Alex Highsmith was limited on Wednesday with a groin injury and, unfortunately, moved in the wrong direction as he missed Thursday’s practice. Although Highsmith is listed as questionable for Sunday, it was encouraging to see that he was a full participant in practice on Friday. The key to Highsmith’s injury will be how his body responds to the full workload on Friday and will enter into the decision of whether or not he can go against the Buffalo Bills on Sunday. If Highsmith is unable to play, look for veteran Melvin Ingram III to get the start at right outside linebacker and a more-than-anticipated workload for reserve outside linebacker Jamir Jones.

The other two players who have appeared on the injury report all week, Kendrick Green and Tyson Alualu, we’re both full participants for the second-straight day. With both players seemingly ready to go, neither carry an injury designation for Sunday.

A new name which popped up on the injury report for Friday was wide receiver James Washington, who was limited in practice with a finger injury. Although Washington was listed on the report due to him not being able to participate in 100% of the activities, it was not warranted enough for the Steelers to even give him an injury designation for the game.

As for the Bills’ injury report, you can see the names below courtesy of Steelers.com. The most significant status is that defensive tackle Star Lotulelei has been ruled out with a calf injury.
