College Game Day: Steelers 2022 Potential Draft Prospects and Open Thread

College football is back and so we start the look into the 2022 prospect watch list.

NCAA Football: Georgia at Arkansas Brett Rojo-USA TODAY Sports

Welcome to Week 1 of the college football season. There’s nothing better than watching some college football while waiting on our Steelers to take the field next Sunday. I appreciate the members who joined in on the conversation during last’s nights game. As always I hope everyone is safe and doing well.

There are a few interesting matchups this week involving Top 25 teams. The big game in my opinion and one that has early Playoff implications is the game between the 5th ranked Georgia Bulldogs vs the 3rd ranked Clemson Tigers. This game is in Prime Time at 7:30 pm at Bank of America Stadium in Charlotte NC. on ABC. As per usual both of these teams continue supporting the NFL with quality prospects.

Georgia Bulldogs

J.T. Daniels QB #18 6’3” 210lbs

Jamaree Slayer G #69 6’4” 325lbs

Adam Anderson EDGE #19 6’5” 230lbs

Nolan Smith EDGE #4 6”3” 235lbs

Jordan Davis IDL #99 6’5” 340lbs

Quay Walker ILB #25 6’4” 240lbs

Nakobe Dean ILB #17 6’ 225lbs

Lewis Cine SAF #16 6’1” 190lbs

Derion Kendrick CB #11 6’1” 190lbs

Clemson Tigers

Braden Galloway TE #88 6’4” 245lbs

Justyn Ross WR #8 6’4” 205lbs

Joseph Ngata WR #10 6’3” 220

Xavier Thomas EDGE #3 6’2” 265lbs

Andrew Booth Jr. CB #23 6’ 200lbs

Sheridan Jones CB #6 6’ 185lbs

Highlighted Player(s)

Georgia - Adam Anderson EDGE Rusher 6’5” 230lbs - Presumably the T.J. Watt mega deal will happen and we have the very promising Alex Highsmith but in the world of professional football you need to get after the QB. Remember that the Steelers did go get Melvin Ingram due to a lack of depth. So with that said and with a history of the front office loving them some freakishly athletic SPARQ types that may not be finished products, Adam Anderson is that guy. Obviously the weight won’t cut it at the next level and the tool chest needs expanded but two things that you can’t teach are length and burst. Keep an eye on Anderson as the season progresses.

Clemson - Andrew Booth Jr. CB 6’ 200lbs - Let’s just say that the corner back room looks a little bare in terms of the next season. Yes I know we need to get through this one first but it appears corner will be pretty high on the needs list. I know some( self included) question the ability to draft and develop corner talent. So we look at guys that check off as many boxes as possible and Booth Jr covers that. This guy will compete each and every play. Confident, physical and has ball skills. The question remains can he fit into the Steelers System, we play our share of zone? Oh yeah I almost forgot he can cover.
