It’s the final weekend before Christmas, and it’s being kicked off with the Rams hosting the Saints on Thursday Night Football.
The Rams enter the week at 7-7 and in possession of the third and final Wildcard spot in the NFC playoffs as the No. 7 seed. Matthew Stafford has been playing like a top five quarterback over the last month, ranking second in the NFL in EPA per play since Week 12. If the Rams do get into the playoffs, it’ll be on the strength of his arm.
The Saints have had a very mediocre season. They are currently on the outside looking in in a bad NFC South. Derek Carr was supposed to be a major addition at quarterback, but he’s been subpar, to say the least. A win would get them to 8-7 and into a Wildcard spot. Holding onto it, though, will be a big question mark.

Odds and predictions for Saints vs. Rams
Point spread: Rams -4
Moneyline: Rams -218, Saints +180
Pick against the spread
The Rams have been one of the best teams in the NFL at covering the spread this season, going 8-5-1 against the number. Meanwhile, the Saints are 29th in the league against the spread, going 4-9-1. The Saints also have the second fewest covers as the away team this season. The Rams are rolling, and we’ll see that continue this week.
The pick: Rams -4
The Saints are the worst team in the league at hitting the over, going 4-10 thus far. The Rams are in the middle of the pack, going 6-8 at hitting the over. I doubt we see a shootout, but with the lack of superstar talent on the Rams’ defense, this could be a game that just sneaks over the projected point total with a 24-23 or 26-20 type of game.
The pick: Over 45
