The Steelers opened up spots on their practice squad today, with the Indianapolis Colts announcing that they have poached safety Henry Black from the Steelers and added him to their 53-man roster.

In addition, the Steelers released linebacker David Perales from their practice squad.

After losing starting strong safety Julian Blackmon with injury, the Colts needed safety depth and turned to Henry Black, who already has experience with the Colts’ system. Black spent the 2022-23 season on the Colts’ practice squad before signing with Pittsburgh midway late this year.

This will be Perales’ second time being released by the Steelers, as this was his second stint on the team’s practice squad this year. The outside linebacker was signed back to Pittsburgh on December 11 when both T.J. Watt and Alex Highsmith were in concussion protocol. With both healthy, Perales’ release isn’t surprising.

With two spots open on their practice squad, expect Pittsburgh to make some roster moves this week. They will likely be looking for a defensive back to sign to replace the loss of Black. The Steelers already signed running back Anthony McFarland back to their practice squad yesterday.

The Steelers travel to take on the Seattle Seahawks on Sunday at 4:05 p.m. ET.
