In what is sure to be one of the lowest-scoring matchups in the NFL this season, the 7-5 Pittsburgh Steelers are set to play host to the 2-10 New England Patriots on Thursday Night Football.

Pittsburgh enters Week 14 coming off an embarrassing loss to a two-win Cardinals team where multiple players admitted they took Arizona too lightly. Now, instead of being 8-4 and one win away from a near-guaranteed playoff berth, the Steelers are looking to avoid dropping to 7-6 and having to play for their playoff lives. They also lost starting quarterback Kenny Pickett in the first half of Week 13, so it will be Mitch Trubisky under center.

The Patriots are in the midst of the worse season of the Bill Belichick era by a mile. They have had more quarterback changes than wins this season, and it will be Bailey Zappe taking the snaps tonight for the second straight game rather than Mac Jones. Offense has been very difficult to come by for the Patriots, scoring just 13 points over their last three games.

Odds and predictions for Steelers vs. Patriots

Point spread: Steelers -6
O/U: 30
Moneyline: Steelers -258, Patriots +210

Pick against the spread

The Steelers’ 7-5 record matches their record against the spread, as well, covering in 58 percent of games this season. The Patriots are the worst team in the NFL at covering the spread at 2-10. That said, in low-scoring matchups, always bet the underdog to cover.

The pick: Patriots +6

Point total

To quote Vince Vaughn’s Peter La Fleur from Dodgeball, if you don’t have a goal, then you are never disappointed. So if you expect a high-paced offensive clinic to be put on display, now would be a good time to lower those expectations.

The Patriots have been held under 10 points in each of their last three games, but have also allowed the fewest points in the league over that span. The Steelers have scored 21 or more points just once in their last six games- this is going to be a defensive slug fest. If it’s going to be bad, let’s at least hope it’ll be weird and we get a scoragami from it.

The pick: Under 30
