The Pittsburgh Steelers’ special teams unit has had more downs than ups this season, but this time, they may have been in the right. On fourth-and-3, the Steelers were set to punt, when it seemed that Patriots LB Jahlani Tavai jumped offsides — a five yard penalty that would have secured this team the first down.
Flags were thrown.
However, the flag was on Pittsburgh, with long snapper Christian Kuntz called on a false start.
No way this was called false start.— Dov Kleiman (@NFL_DovKleiman) December 8, 2023
Another game changing call.. Everyone thought it was offsides pic.twitter.com/RxDJlu4kMN
The false start call came on the movement of Kuntz’s head, though it seems like a fairly standard head movement.
Was this a false start?
