Washington Football Team Head Coach Ron Rivera announced Wednesday that second-year quarterback Dwayne Haskins will be the team’s starter at home against the Philadelphia Eagles on Sunday September 13.

Haskins was the 15th overall pick in the 2019 NFL Draft and played nine games last season throwing seven touchdowns and seven interceptions for 1,365 yards.

“I think he’s growing. He’s learning, he’s developing,” Rivera said. “This year, obviously as a team we’re at a handicap. But for a quarterback, the guy really has to learn. Again, we still have a way to go, but it’s promising. And that’s probably the best thing you can say about it, too, that he’s showing those moments that really tells you he’s learning.”

Ron Rivera is all in with his quarterback and hopes they build success quickly and lead the team to its first playoff run since 2007.
