With the 15th pick in the 2014 NFL Draft, the Pittsburgh Steelers select...("WHAT?) Ryan Shazier, linebacker, Ohio State University.

Those were not the words fans expected to hear Thursday night, but amid boos toward his own name, NFL Commissioner Roger Goodell said them, and immediately, a sense of athleticism returned to the Steelers' defense, said The Standard is The Standard hosts Neal Coolong and Lance Williams.

They met for a quick recording session after the first round and before cranking out a few other stories for the night.

Mainly focusing on Shazier and what he brings to the team, The Standard is The Standard goes over the perceived issue with "value" and why you can basically throw that out the window when it comes to the "hyper athletic" Shazier.

The Steelers nickel packages improved quite a bit. Their run defense improved quite a bit, they're younger and they're faster. It's pretty clear what side of the fence they're on, so listen in and weigh in here.

They'll record again after the second round pick Friday evening.
