Steelers Connection: The silver lining to the Pittsburgh Steelers injury woes

The Pittsburgh Steelers have been dealing with a rash of injuries this season, but there is a silver lining to the cloud currently hovering over the Steel City.

The Pittsburgh Steelers injury woes have been well documented. Although the injuries continue to mount, most recently being Ben Roethlisberger and his torn meniscus, there could actually be a silver lining to the cloud hanging over the Steel City.

To put it into simple terms, the Steelers haven't suffered some of the injuries they experienced in the 2015 season. You know, the season-ending variety.

It wasn't just the duration of the injuries, but also the timing. I'm aware injuries can still occur, but it was last year where DeAngelo Williams was injured in Week 17, Antonio Brown knocked out in the AFC Wild Card game and Ben Roethlisberger banged up during the same game against the Cincinnati Bengals.

This year the Steelers saw their injury bug bite them early in the season. It was the Week 3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles which saw the Steelers lose the likes of Ryan Shazier, Robert Golden and Sean Davis. In the following weeks Cameron Heyward, Marcus Gilbert and Roethlisberger were also lost to injury.

Eventually these players will return, and when they do the Steelers could be right back where they were before the injuries...on track to be a team to be reckoned with.

Take a listen to the latest episode to the short podcast in the player above. It should be noted this was recorded prior to the news of Roethlisberger potentially missing anywhere from 4-6 weeks, rather than 1-3 weeks.
