There is a common question floating around fans of the Pittsburgh Steelers after they dismantled the Kansas City Chiefs in Week 4.
"Is this team more like the Week 3 loss to the Philadelphia Eagles, or more like the Week 4 win over Kansas City?"
A tough question for anyone to answer, but in the latest episode of the Steelers Connection podcast, I take a look at the first quarter of the season, break down some numbers and try to figure out just what they tell us about this 2016 Steelers team moving forward.
Is everything just golden right now? Absolutely not. I look at the horrid defensive statistics, but there are also some saving graces on the defensive side of the football. Offensively things are on the up and up, right? Well, yes and no. The numbers don't lie, and they point directly to the Steelers slowly, and quietly finding their groove a quarter of the way through the season.
Consistency is key in this equation, and if the Steelers can find a middle ground, both offensively and defensively, there is no reason to think this couldn't be a team playing football deep into January and early February. However, despite the numbers and trends, the team has to go out and perform at a high level regardless of the opponent. Fans have already started talking "let down game" with the 1-3 New York Jets coming to Heinz Field, but the Steelers can set a new trend in the Steel City with another solid performance in Week 5.
