The New England Patriots are preparing to play in Super Bowl 51, while the Pittsburgh Steelers, and their fans, are about to sit at home with the other 30 NFL teams not participating in the big game, wondering what would have been.
After getting demolished in the AFC Championship game, fans of the black and gold were left with the shattered pieces of the 2016 season wondering just what went wrong.
Coaching mistakes, poor game plan, poor execution...the list goes on and on.
However, I am wondering what needs to change for the Steelers to finally get over the hump that is the New England Patriots? I break it down for you with 4 changes which could help Pittsburgh "slay the dragon" that is Tom Brady and the boys.
Those 4 categories are:
- Defensive lineman who is versatile enough to play both OLB and a DE 4-3 style defense to get pressure without sending a blitz.
- A pure No. 2 wide receiver, Martavis Bryant, which will alleviate pressure off Antonio Brown, but also open up the rest of the offense too.
- Adding a cornerback with the versatility to play both inside and outside, as well as experience with man and zone coverage experience.
- A coaching staff willing to change not just throughout the season, but week to week to give their team the best chance to win on a weekly basis.
