The season couldn't have started better for Steelers running back Le'Veon Bell. Reaching dizzying levels of production in terms of yards from scrimmage, the only question was whether Bell would eclipse the 2,000-yard mark before the Steelers played their 16th game this year.
Not that all hope is dead in that department; just stalled for a bit. Bell was averaging 135.6 yards per game rushing and receiving heading into the Steelers' Week 9 contest against the Baltimore Ravens. He has been held to just 58 and 69 yards from scrimmage, respectively, in Weeks 9 and 10, and he has seen his epic pace slow down tremendously.
A lack of running room, as well as a more-concentrated effort to bracket Bell in the flats, have caused his mini-slump. The Steelers have opted for throws to wide receivers and tight ends at the goal line, and Bell has only reached the end zone three times this season, but not once on the ground since Week 1.
The Steelers take on the Tennessee Titans in Week 11 on Monday Night Football and, on paper, it suggests a great matchup for Bell in both departments. The Titans allow more than 130 rushing yards per game, and with rookie quarterback Zach Mettengerger not expected to provide large amounts of possession, the Steelers may be able to get their sagging run game back on track.
Bell is a pretty obvious start this week, and even with production that isn't close to his previous levels, getting back to that 135 yards from scrimmage mark with a touchdown is a good bet.
