Week four of the NFL season is upon us and there is plenty of value to be had at the tight end position. Just because you don’t have a top tier guy doesn’t mean you can’t play the waiver wire to try and find a favorable matchup. Below are three players to start, four to sit, and four suggestions to fill in for those players to sit for week three.
Start:
Kyle Rudolph- Rudolph is a strong candidate for the breakout player at the position this year. He’s developed strong chemistry with Sam Bradford and has a tempting matchup against an inconsistent Giants defense.
Zach Miller- The Bears don’t have a good team this year and are missing Jay Cutler at quarterback, however that translates to lots of passing attempts which benefits fantasy players. Miller led the team in targets last week.
Coby Fleener– The Chargers defense has been victimized by tight ends this season. Fleener has no competition at the position and is in a pass heavy system.
Sit:
Julius Thomas- Jacksonville began the season as a tempting pick to be a surprise playoff team. So far they haven’t lived up to the hype and that has affected every player.
Start instead: Dwayne Allen IND
Charles Clay – Bill Belichick has had an extra half week to prepare for a division rival and a coach he can’t stand. I’d stay away from Buffalo players this week.
Start Instead: Eric Ebron Det
Jason Witten – The Cowboys haven’t made the most of Witten’s talents this with Dak Prescott playing and the 49ers have been tough on tight ends so far in 2016.
Start instead: Travis Kelce KC
Gary Barnridge – Barnridge saw an uptick in targets and receptions last week, but it remains tough to trust the Cleveland offense. It’d be smart to pass on starting him this week but keep an eye on him in case he translates targets into points
Start Instead: Dennis Pitta Bal
