Maurkice Pouncey named top offensive linemen in future projection

Gary Horton of Scouts Inc. is projecting Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey as the best offensive lineman in football in 2016. Quite a step up, considering the low marks he routinely gets from a certain evaluation web site.

Karl Walter

Steelers center Maurkice Pouncey takes barbs on a weekly basis from a certain evaluation web site.

The founder of Scouts Inc., Gary Horton, and his 20-plus years of evaluation experience, says Pouncey will be the best offensive linemen in football in 2016.

Obviously, it's difficult to take such projections without a level of salt tantamount to the fries at McDonalds, but Horton, in his write-up, establishes Pouncey as one of the best linemen in the league now and tomorrow.

Pouncey's athleticism is rare for a center or an offensive lineman, and while injuries have slowed him down, he has the potential to back up Horton's praise.

Let's keep in mind, Pouncey will turn 24 years old in July.

While no other Steelers player made this list - including highly-touted guard David DeCastro, the foundation of this Steelers team will center (pun intended) around its offensive line in the future.

And Pouncey will be the center of that. Cuz he's the center. Ya know?
