Herm Edwards Super Bowl XLIX prediction (May 2014 version) @TBBuccaneers vs @Steelers
— NFL on ESPN (@ESPNNFL) May 27, 2014
As ex-Chiefs coach Herm Edwards would say, "We can build on this!"
The highly quotable but questionably organized coach-turned-analyst picked the Steelers to face the Tampa Bay Buccaneers in Super Bowl XLIX - that's the one being played Feb. 1 in Glendale, Ariz.
Note the disclaimer on the Tweet, "May 2014 version," it's a wonder if the month as well as the year were both needed. With such a bold prediction, maybe it will be. Neither the Steelers nor the Buccaneers advanced to the postseason last year, and Tampa Bay hasn't been there since 2007. They haven't won a playoff game since winning the Super Bowl after the 2002 season.
But hey, who cares? Offseason optimism is always fun. Steelers rookie Ryan Shazier predicted championships for all three of Pittsburgh's pro teams within the next five years. Why can't Edwards pick a thousand-to-one shot Super Bowl match-up?
