It has been a record-setting year for the Pittsburgh Steelers offense, in no small part because of the big numbers Ben Roethlisberger has been putting up this season.
Roethlisberger's prolific season hasn't gone unnoticed, as he's been nominated for the FedEx Air Player of the Week award for a fifth time this season, including his Week 15 performance against the Atlanta Falcons. Roethlisberger has won the award three times this season, with two awards coming in consecutive weeks during his dismantling of the Colts and Ravens, tossing six touchdowns in each game, and then again in Week 14 against the Bengals. Roethlisberger's three awards this season are the most in the league.
With a $2,000 donation to the American Red Cross for each award, Roethlisberger has already made a fine contribution to the Pittsburgh chapter of the organization.
Winning the award this week is no small task, as other nominees include Kansas City QB Alex Smith, who guided the Chiefs to a victory against the Raiders, throwing for 297 yards and two touchdowns, while Drew Brees tossed three touchdowns to go along with his 375 yards in a win over the Chicago Bears Monday night.
Fans can go to NFL.com/FedEx to cast their votes. Winners will be announced on Thursday evening.
