Reports surfaced Wednesday evening from 93.7 The Fan radio host Colin Dunlap Steelers running backs Le'Veon Bell and LeGarrette Blount were arrested in Ross Township Thursday. Bell was driving the vehicle when it was stopped by police. Upon detecting the smell of marijuana, Bell was taken from the vehicle and eventually charged with suspicion of DUI. Blount, and an unidentified third person, were released from the scene but area police told Dunlap all three are expected to be charged with possession of marijuana.
A source told BTSC Jason La Canfora's report that Blount is with the team in Philadelphia is correct. He was not charged, but still is expected to be, according to Dunlap.
Bell and Blount comprise of approximately 100 percent of the Steelers' game-experienced running backs. The Steelers did nothing in the offseason to replenish any further lack of depth that was partially filled by Blount.
Blount signed a free agent deal with the Steelers after spending last season in New England. Bell, in 13 games, broke the Steelers' rookie record for yards from scrimmage.
The two, dubbed "Le'Backfield," were expected to handle a huge bulk of a revamped Steelers' running game.
Needless to say, these charges puts their season opener in doubt.
