The Steelers will retain running back Josh Harris, who announced via Twitter he's staying in Pittsburgh.
12:31 p.m. ET - BTSC has been informed by a source close to the situation DE Josh Mauro will be on Pittsburgh's practice squad.
1:30 p.m. ET - The Steelers announced the signing of 10 players to the team's practice squad. Along with previously confirmed running back Josh Harris and defensive end Josh Mauro, the Steelers signed WR C.J. Goodwin, Derek Moye, offensive lineman Alejandro Villanueva (who was a defensive end with Philadelphia), CB Shaquille Richardson and S Ross Ventrone, DL Nick Williams, TE Rob Blanchflower and LB Howard Jones.
The Steelers were able to keep many of the players fans felt should have made the team, including Mauro, Williams and Jones. The team did not announce any other transactions when they announced the practice-squad signings.
It's curious whether Villenueva being listed here as an offensive lineman is a typo, or if that's legitimately where the Steelers intend to work him. He was a defensive lineman in training camp with the Eagles, but played multiple positions at Army before becoming an Army Ranger for three years. At 6-foot-9, 280 pounds, it's not as if he flat-out couldn't make the change. Keeping one of the practice squad spots open for such a move, though, really speaks to what the team feels it can do with him.
