In the wake of the surveillance video that was released by TMZ.com today of Ray Rice striking his then-fiancee, the Baltimore Ravens have terminated Rice's contract.
Rice was already serving a two-game suspension for his role in the domestic violence dispute that had the Pro Bowl running back arrested.
In the weeks after the suspension, NFL commisioner Roger Goodell stiffened the penalty for domestic violence from a two-game suspension to a six-game suspension for a first-time offense.
Ray Rice had his worst season statistically in 2013 and was looking to return to form in 2014. The chance for Ray Rice to have an impact this season will have wait as the NFL has suspended Rice indefinitely.
The Ravens host the Pittsburgh Steelers this Thursday night in Week 2 of NFL action.
